10.12.12 - Daring If You Ask Me!
You do what you have to do to keep yourself sane during the
single parent moments of football season.
Expecting the worse I took the three kids to the movies
assuming we'd stay as long as we could. Surprising
we made it through the entire movie...some call it crazy,
others say stupid, maybe daring but definitely brave!
For the record, Lauren's first movie was Madagascar 3.

Lauren is a crazy girl in the tub...we decided this would be their

My birthday fell on a Thursday this year so I celebrated as
my football widow status required with just the kids. Here's this year's
picture in front of the cake with burning candles...except
my arm was not long enough to get the cake and candles
in the picture. Better luck next years!

9.27.12 - Would You Rather?
I currently have a group of employees spread across 3 time
zones and 7 facilities, none of which are local. Given these
dynamics, working "in" the office has become less important
but rather being available remotely when needed has.
As a result I've seen less of this view and more of the view from
the table in our sunroom...what view would you rather have?

Jalen and I have been playing Mancala quit a bit lately.
I can't tell if he's really lucky or actually has a strategy but
I have to say this mama isn't "letting" anyone win and
he is beating me from time to time. Game on son, game on!

9.25.12 - Baby Gate Goes Up
This has been on the "Honey-DO" list for quite
sometime. My nerves begin to settle some
as I see this go up...you wouldn't believe how
fast she finds her way to new ground in this
house. I'm just glad she hasn't and won't be
finding her way down the stairs.

9.24.12 - Little Diaper Box Creation
As a child I remember my mom making diaper box monster costumes
with us. What else is there to do with these XL diaper boxes?
Since the memory lasted with me, I thought I would
try something similar with the boys on a day they needed something
out of the ordinary to do. Before I even had a chance to mention the
thought / idea, Jalen had started his own creation.
Entertainment at it's best, this time we have a cardboard house.
Maybe next time we'll have monsters or robots.

9.23.12 - Cuddler...No WAY!
This little girl is constantly moving and RARELY
cuddles. When she is tired she just wants to
be put down, in her bed. In the morning if you
try to cuddle her you get the stiff arm right to the
face. Today was a different story...she was
all about cuddling with Papa O.

9.21.12 - Quick & Easy; 9 Months
Ok, guilty as charged! Football season brings about anything quick
and easy for dinner on Thursday and Friday nights.
Did I mention she'd rather not have baby food and prefers to
feed herself. Here's the proof...I fed her baby food and she
attacked the spoon a few too many times.
Gotta love this 9 month old bundle of joy!

9.20.12 - Pizza Goodness
This girl doesn't want baby food anymore.
She wants to eat like the big kids and loves pizza.

9.19.12 - Seeded Watermelon
farmer and ended up with a watermelon, not just any watermelon
but one full of seeds. I don't know that I've ever cut a seeded melon.
As I cut it apart and picked out the seeds I knew I wasn't going
to get them all. What a pain I thought but then I remembered my
mom saying it was "good luck" if you had the bay leaf in
your soup bowl. Immediately, the glass went from half empty to
half full...this week in our house if you found a black seed
in your watermelon you got to make a wish. The kids loved it!

9.18.12 - God's Promise and Affirmation
On Sunday we heard a sermon centered on Noah.
During the service Jalen leaned over and said
"He did that Mom, he killed all those people?"
"Yes, honey. God was not happy with
the way people were living their life. He promised
he'll never do it again but he wants us to make
good choices and live with and for him."
The service was so affirming for me and then
seeing a rainbow today made it all the more affirming.

One might think the boys are getting ready for
Halloween but no, this is their typical
evening attire...ready, set, hut!

9.16.12 - Little Desperate Here
One for a picture of the day and two for a 'new' snack to
send with Derk for his Sunday coaches meeting.
This season I've been sending him with baked goods. I've made
all the usuals so for week five it was a stretch until I
remembered an all time favorite...chocolate covered
POPCORN....yum, yum!

Good thing we planned to arrive when they opened because
it was a mad house at Cranes and you really had to
hunt for apples. We usually pick around 100 pounds of
Honeycrisps and this year each family was only
allowed 1 bag of ~20 pounds...so sad.

Tyler just didn't want to get up so he decided to enjoy just

9.5.12 - Not Exactly...
...as I intended. The boys were "washing" their cars and
made a mess of the floor. I told them they had to clean
the floor up and it ended up being loads of fun for them.

For the last few days now Lauren's been
pulling herself up to a standing position.
This was the first time the boys saw it
and both came running to tell me
about it. It is such a joy to see
their excitement as she grows

9.2.12 - Remember When...
...you'd sit with your new school supplies all excited about
the new school year to start? Seeing Jalen read, draw and
practice writing brought back those memories and got me
excited about him starting the new school year.

...she is not only into everything but that she also chews
