I was undecided on which picture to post...the first represents what Jalen checked out from the library today.  Ironically, it's the first time he's ever checked out a book.  Of course it was something manly.  The second picture represents the "love" Lucy came and gave Jalen right before bed.  I was cuddling with Jalen when all of a sudden Lucy jumped up and decided to join us.  She always wants to be right in the middle.

I'm traveling this week for work...it's always hard to leave 

the boys, I'd rather they all come with me.  Mom guilt kicked 

in yesterday while we were at Meijer so both the boys 

ended up with donuts this morning.  Ty was in his glory.  

He wouldn't put it down until it was finished.

Today Jalen's preschool class journeyed through Micandy's 

greenhouse.  I've enjoyed joining him each month as they learn 

outside the classroom.  I've learned a little along the away as 

well.  It was interesting to see the factory like process greenhouse 

have in place as they prepare for spring.  I eagerly wait for 

warmer weather when my green thumb is able to kick in.

I absolutely love buying books for the boys and you'd be 

amazed by what I find at Goodwill.  It keeps reading 

fun and fresh for both the kids and us parents.

3.14.11 - What's Being Monitored...

 

Weight or routines...this picture says so many 

things.  First, Ty is feeling better, starting to 

eat again and over the last week he's lost 2 pounds.  

Second, it shows how much kids watch their parents.  

Ty sees Derk step on this scale daily since the 

beginning of the year loosing more than 25 pounds.

3.7.11 - Jalen's First "REAL" Puzzle

We've had this puzzle book for a long time and this was the first time Jalen worked on a puzzle.  He surprised me with his patience and persistence as he worked to put it together.

Saturday morning activity...decorating a box.  This kept 

their minds busy for about an hour, you're impressed aren't you?

The pleasure is two fold...I love to make food that tastes and 

looks beautiful and then enjoy it accompanied by good friends. 

3.3.11 - Entertainment At It's Finest

....a movie.  I know it's awful but when you just need a little peace
and quite it's a quick fix.  I only wish my kids knew how to play
better by themselves so I didn't have to resort to such measures.
Rather, they would love for me to help them think of
creative things to play and / or do.

3.2.11 - Mud Fight

It turned into a mud fight when we 

tried to get her into the shower.

3.1.11 - Hello Water!

 

We were welcome home to basement full of water!  A pipe froze in a corner exterior wall and it must have happened earlier in the day because roughly 2 inches of water covered our basement.  Derk's first reaction was that Jalen had turned the spicket on outside and the frozen ground caused it to pour into the house.  We quickly learned that wasn't the case - called the builder, plumber, a few friends to help get everything off the floor, our insurance company and Modernistic.  The day wrapped up a little before 3am...we'll see what the next few days brings.  For now, we'll enjoy the sounds of 3 large humidifiers and a dozen or so large fans.
