... I typically do not slow down enough to write or read for pleasure on a regular basis but one thing I do is capture life's moments through the lens of a camera. This isn't something I claim to be good at. In fact, photographer doesn't even come to mind when I think of who I am. What does come to mind is I'm the one with the camera journeying through life as a wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend. ....
I finally captured the moment...last week Derk glanced over and saw Jalen riding a bike without training wheels. Neither of us had practiced with him or even encouraged him. He's still a little wobbly but considering the size of the bike and the distance to the ground his confidence will build.
Under normal circumstances I find yoga moments to be time for spiritual cleansing, wholeness and being full presence - one with God. It usually doesn't involve kids but this Saturday afternoon it did. We had a blast. From downward dog where Ty was climbing between my arms and legs to chaturanga, where I had to use one hand to go down and the other to move him out of the way. The boys and I had some time of yoga sculpting and horse play. This pictures capture Ty's pause to say "cheese"...what a ham!
The car rug was a friend's garage sale purchase in the first place and when she decided to garage sale it we decided to pick up this gem. Hopefully it brings hours of imaginary play...so far so good!
All week Derk's complained about the extra treats in lounge for teacher appreciation week and the discipline it requires to not indulge. Usually this week is about getting gift cards since he is a teacher but with Jalen in school it was also about giving. We traveled over to WAR, International on Rivertown. It was my first time visiting the store, it was a little surreal knowing that everything has a story. It took Jalen a while to pick something out. In the end he picked decided on finger puppets for both his teachers in addition to small gift cards.
...so the story goes, Jalen asked Derk if they could have fun today and as a result a full out wrestling match breaks loose. Two against one. Ty even through a few cheap shots.
Ty sure holds his own both with Jalen and with us. Derk and I try to pick our battles but realize his battles are getting the best of us at times. How can that cute little boy's mouth have such stern words and grump come from it? If it isn't his way, at times he grits his jaw and in the meanest voices says "don't do that and don't wanta". We have no idea where these statements came from. At times it is comical except when he is extremely grumpy. When this happens, it doesn't matter what you do, it isn't right. In these moments time can't pass fast enough.
