...
I typically do not slow down enough to write or read for pleasure on a regular basis but one thing I do is capture life's moments through the lens of a camera. This isn't something I claim to be good at. In fact, photographer doesn't even come to mind when I think of who I am. What does come to mind is I'm the one with the camera journeying through life as a wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend.

Monday

10.31.11 - Happy Halloween

Tyler insisted on being a pirate...good thing I found a costume.
I had no idea a two year old could be so opinionated about
what he wanted to be for Halloween.

Thursday

10.27.11 - Left Overs...

...on pot pie night.  Absolutely nothing.

Wednesday

10.26.11 - Making Learning Fun

What letter says e?
Find the lower case a and tell me what sound it makes.
"Yes, I got a point"  Just make it a game...now if only we could get him
to hear the difference between the short a and short e.

Tuesday

10.25.11 - Turkey Trot

Xavier, Mrs. Stokes and Jalen...on your marks, get set, go!

Monday

10.24.11 - Facinated With Writing Jalen

EVERYWHERE!
My mother would laugh as I remember going through this stage.

Sunday

10.23.11 - Helping Daddy

Until a life lesson hit...never touch a recently
drilled  screwed.  It's hot and you'll burn your
finger.  The tears were bad but the cuddle was great!

Friday

10.21.11 - Cartoons Anyone?

You're only invited if you follow the
dress code...undies & helmet!

Thursday

10.20.11 - Quick, Grab The Camera

They are playing so well together.  Lately they have both taken on a
new hobby - driving each other crazy.  Tyler stands
his own and pesters Jalen just as much as Jalen pesters Ty.

Tuesday

11.18.11 - Practice, Practice, Practice

Pictured Above: how things start
Pictured Below: how things end

We're working on it Mrs. LePard!

Monday

11.17.11 - e Breaks the Rule

You always start to write your letters at the top except for the letter e.
Jalen tells us that the little e starts in the middle.  His teacher
knows just how to speak right to a "rule" follower's heart.

Friday

10.14.11 - BEAR

If you've ever wondered why we
call him Bear, now you know.

Tuesday

10.11.11 - It's Been a Year in a Half

I wish the love was still there but now it seems more
like a chore.  I love the end result though so each child
will get a two page in review per year of life.  Let the games begin!

Monday

10.10.11 - Rockford Prep

You make life no fun...why do you have to have so many offensive formations?
It makes a defensive coach crazy!

Saturday

10.8.11 - Come Fly Away With Me

Broadway Grand Rapids...only on special nights!
- Birthday Date Night -

Thursday

10.6.11 - Proud Dad

Who would have known that only 5 years later Derk would be choking up at this...

Jalen joined the team for their pre-game locker room talk b/c Derk decided to have Jalen as the water boy for the first time. At the end of the pre-game speech they asks if anyone has anything else to add. Jalen raises his hand and shares as confident as can be "tonight I'm the water boy". Here this 5 year is holding his own and speaking to a group of 16 year olds about his role in the game.  Derk said Jalen was even stretching before the game and told Derk he needed to so he could run fast and get the water to the guys quickly. Derk said he also got in line at the end of their two by two line up to walk on the field with the team. I broke Jalen's heart when I took him home at halftime b/c he has school tomorrow and needed to get to bed.

Wednesday

10.5.11 - Ty's Ready...

...for the evening neighborhood football scrimmage.

Tuesday

10.4.11 - Welcome Year 32

Oh, what a great day! I started off the awful glucose test, had lunch with a friend, picked out a few cute outfits for our baby girl, got a long overdue haircut, hour / full body massage, dinner / cake with the boys, and finally ended the day goofing off with the best of them...why hello year 32!

Monday

10.3.11 - Best Part of The Day

Watching my boys excitement as they made me a birthday cake.

Sunday

10.2.11 - Unpacking the Backpack

Unpacking and reloading...a Mommy ritual I surely don't mind.  I love to see what Jalen's up to in the classroom.  This last week they reviewed the letter a.  Jalen shared that he learned how to write the little a (short letter sound v. long) and that only Alden can use the "big A".  When I asked why he said because it's the rule...my teacher said.  Oh, to be a teacher and have everything I say be golden.  :)

Saturday

10.1.11 - An Apple A Day

I'm not sure what we are going to do when we run
out of our Honeycrisp!  I'm not sure it's healthy to each
3 a day.  How else are we going to eat through
out 108 pounds before they spoil?
